“…The accommodation was exceptional – everything so beautifully designed & appointed, lovingly tended. The whole time we were there we were wishing we could share it with our loved ones; having a beer overlooking the valley, or going into town for a croissant at Paddock & a stroll through Te Koutu Park. As compact as the Loft was, it was such a healing space from its relaxing bath to its reviving balcony…”

“Wow, Wow, Wow”

“As is obvious from my title, I loved this place! I am quite a fussy traveller so am rarely as satisfied as I was with our two nights at Huntington Stables. We stayed in The Loft which is so much nicer than in the photos. Besides the lovely decor and fabulous views, every little detail one could think of, and some I never expect, has been accounted for. The accommodation is spotless and everything is in perfect condition, almost like new. I couldn’t begin to list all of the little, thoughtful details provided for the comfort of guests. There were the things I always expect but rarely get such as hooks, tissues and adequate storage in the bathroom, good clothing and luggage storage, plenty of good hangers, adequate bedroom side tables with good lighting and plenty of good pillows. Not expected but so appreciated were things like really nice soap, toiletries in case you forgot something, DVD’s, games, books, magazines, the kitchen stocked with everything you might want, and all of good quality. A fridge and pantry fully stocked for a really great continental breakfast plus extra drinks and snacks available. There was even a special lap pad for my iPad – so useful and something I didn’t even know existed much less expected to find in a hotel room!

And that’s just the room. The grounds are beautiful and are in process of becoming even more so. There is a bird aviary and a beautiful swimming pool. And although we picked The Loft partly for the advertised views, the whole property has lovely pastoral views of the countryside. I could go on and on but suffice to say, we will be back. And if you are in Cambridge, don’t even think of staying anywhere else.”

“Birthday weekend with family: this was a planned weekend with my Sister, Brother and his wife. We cannot recommend our stay highly enough. Fabulous accommodation. Great location. Our wonderful host (Robyn) couldn’t do enough for us. Her suggestions, advice, bookings, food and welcoming friendliness were first class. no complaints in any way… Oh, maybe one…we should have stayed longer! But we will be back. And you should go too. Definitely 10/10”

“Simply perfect: My husband and I just needed a couple of relaxing nights away after a difficult few months of health issues, and I’m delighted we found this place. We stayed in the smallest accommodation option, The Stall, which is a charming little gem but with plenty of space for your luggage and clothing, a kitchenette area, a beautiful tiled bathroom with a spacious shower, and a private balcony overlooking the valley. The whole space was absolutely clean as a pin, super comfortable, and providing everything we could have needed, including dressing gowns, spa towels, extra blankets and pillows, numerous tea and coffee options, toiletries… I should also mention that the bed was amazing. The mattress was supportive, so there was no partner disturbance at all, but with a pillow-soft top layer you could snuggle into for pure comfort. Best bed we’ve had in a hotel – ever.

The breakfast was, I believe, a bit simpler than that provided in the larger accommodations, but it suited us perfectly, with three different cereal options, tinned fruit, delicious ‘The Collective’ yoghurts, orange juice and fresh milk. All these were replenished daily into refillable containers, which we loved as an eco-friendly way of doing things. The property overall is lovely, with lots of pretty garden areas to relax or wander in. And the owners are currently putting in even more plantings and seating areas, all with those gorgeous rural valley views. The pool area is superb too, and would be amazing for larger family groups, with lots of seating areas around it, but the highlight for us was the big spa pool. Both nights we sat in there for ages, luxuriating in the heat and bubbles and massage jets, looking up at the stars. The whole place, inside and out, is beautifully cared for and presented, and offers a truly peaceful, restorative retreat – and although it’s rural, it’s a quick drive to town, restaurants, the Te Koutou lake (gorgeous!) and Maungakawa Scenic Reserve. We recommend it highly.”

We are just sitting at Auckland airport, about to head home to Newcastle Australia after a two week sojourn around New Zealand’s North Island. We have had some incredible times – from a walk through the Redwoods in Rotorua, to the hush of Waitomo Glow-worm caves, from the Paihia-Russell Ferry, to Auckland’s culinary delights (We fell in love with Mezze Bar in Durham Street).

But the biggest surprise, and the sweetest, was Huntington Stables. We both grieved that we had only booked such a short stay with you. The accommodation was exceptional – everything so beautifully designed and appointed, lovingly tended. The whole time we were there we were wishing we could share it with our loved ones, having a beer overlooking the valley, or going into town for a croissant at Paddock and a stroll through Te Koutu Park. As compact as the loft was, it was such a healing space from its relaxing bath to its reviving balcony. God, what a place. And at the end of it, saying goodbye, you guys were so interesting and easy to talk to, it only sharpened our remorse that we weren’t staying longer.

If we get the chance, believe us, we will return and visit you again. Huntington Stables is a real jewel, like nowhere else. Until then, we’ll be recommending your place to all and sundry.
